After Christian Watson was ruled out for Week 1, the Green Bay Packers could use some positive news. The latest David Bakhtiari and Rashan Gary injury updates offer just that. Neither David Bakhtiari nor Rashan Gary had an injury designation on the Packers' injury report Friday, signaling that both players are ready to go against the Chicago Bears Sunday.

A hamstring injury will prevent Watson from playing in the Packers' 2023 opener in Chicago. Romeo Doubs is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, raising the possibility Green Bay's top two wide receivers could both miss the Week 1 matchup.

The Packers hope that Bakhtiari is finally completely recovered from the torn ACL that he suffered in 2020. The injury limited the starting left tackle to one game in 2021 and 11 games in 2022. Bakhtiari had been an All-Pro in five straight seasons. He's expected to play against the Bears despite not practicing in the weeks leading up to Sunday's opener at Soldier Field.

Gary is also coming back from a torn ACL, but his injury occurred last November. The Packers' linebacker was having a strong season, recording six sacks and 21 tackles in nine games. Gary had 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles when he was healthy two seasons ago.

Green Bay has largely dominated the Packers-Bears rivalry for the last decade. The biggest reason for the one-sided nature of the matchups was the difference in the quarterbacks. Now that Jordan Love is replacing Aaron Rodgers, Chicago has a chance to potentially get some payback against their NFC North foes.

It remains to be seen if Justin Fields can be the Bears' franchise quarterback for the long haul.
