Last offseason, it seemed almost inevitable that the 2021 season would be Aaron Rodgers' last dance with the Green Bay Packers. Now, though, that doesn't seem to be the case. Rodgers is heavily expected to stay with the Packers for at least another season.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Packers have “made a strong push” on a deal that is potentially three to four years long to re-sign Rodgers. They have not had any trade discussions about him — Fowler did mention, though, that the Denver Broncos are “all in” on him — partially because his trade value may not be as high as one would think from a reigning MVP.

The 38-year-old will probably be the NFL's highest-paid player when this is all over. The Packers have had zero trade discussions about him. And as one source pointed out, he might have to play for Green Bay or retire because “I don't believe a team would pay what [the Packers] would want” even if it came to that.

The Packers having an unthinkably high asking price for Rodgers makes sense. But it also would make sense for teams to be wary of paying that price for such an old player. Even though he will remain one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, it's a risk to take to make a huge move for him.

Rodgers is currently torn between Green Bay and Denver. With the solid offensive personnel and impressive defense that Denver has, it is definitely a viable option for him to compete for more championships. Still, Green Bay has been his home for nearly two decades and still offers him a playoff-ready team.
