The NFL offseason has entered the scouting combine phase. As potential incoming players get evaluated at the NFL Scouting Combine, it's also a chance to league sources to discuss major topics. There is no bigger topic this offseason than what is going to happen with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

As The Athletic's Jeff Howe noted, “there’s a widespread belief around the league that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will remain with the Packers.” Multiple teams have reportedly expressed interest in trading for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. But it is pretty consistent around the league that the expectation is that he will return to the Packers.

Rodgers himself had said right after the season ended in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers that he will not take long to announce his decision. Yet, here everyone is still pondering what is going to happen. That should not come as a surprise. If there is anyone in the league who wants people talking about him, it's probably the Green Bay quarterback.

The rest of the quarterback market will likely not move forward until the news of Rodgers' contract situation is revealed.

There is a wrinkle in all of this that a lot of people have overlooked. Rodgers is under contract. He can demand a trade if they do not give him the extension at the terms he wants, but they do not have to trade him. Nor do they have to send him where he wants to go.

But all of the tea leaves, from his speech after winning his second straight NFL MVP, to the Packers' hiring decisions since, all point to Rodgers returning to Green Bay.
