New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is widely considered the greatest player of all time. However, there are aspects of his skill set that will be overlooked the day his enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame arrives.

Brady has made headlines in recent weeks for his abysmal attempts at making a block. According to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston, he was admittedly surprised to find himself in the situation against the Green Bay Packers in the first place:

“I mean, I had no idea,” Brady said. “You get out in space, I have no idea what the hell’s going on. I don’t know what’s illegal to hit or dive or cut. I thought, ‘No way the ball is getting to me.’ And next thing you know, James is running by me.”

“I said, ‘S—!’ just as he’s running by me,” Brady said, “because I probably could have made a play to get him a touchdown. But you live and you learn.”

Brady may feel guilty about his inability to lay down an efficient block. White would have most certainly scored on the trick play had he been able to get a body of Packers linebacker Antonio Morrison. Even Brady was clearly frustrated about the missed opportunity. Fortunately, the mistake did not come back to haunt New England as they went on to beat Green Bay 31-17.

Brady will certainly never be remembered for his blocking prowess. However, there is no doubt that he makes up for it in other areas of the game. He has carried this offense on his shoulders for nearly the past two decades as its conductor. It is safe to assume that the Patriots would much rather have him focus on finishing the game than risk potential injury at this point in his career.
