With the news breaking on Sunday that Paul George has informed the Indiana Pacers that he plans on entering free agency next summer, trade talks involving him have ramped up.

One of the long-rumored destinations for George's services has been the Boston Celtics. However, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders is reporting that the Celtics are not interested in a one-year rental for the All-Star forward.

Although Boston has a plethora assets and young players at their disposal, they don't want to send away a sizeable portion of that for a player that could foreseeably leave them in free agency next summer. It could also have a major impact in setting the franchise back several years from their recent win-now push after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in five years.

George would help increase their chances of beating the Cleveland Cavaliers, but if they fall short, that could see them take a big step back. This is why the Celtics have reportedly made a harder push toward acquiring Jimmy Butler especially after trading down from the first overall pick to acquire more assets.

There have also been reports that the team could target All-Star forward Gordon Hayward in free agency next month as one of their top targets. With the Celtics out of the picture, that narrows down the list of potential landing spot for George.
