The Denver Nuggets’ prized offseason acquisition, Paul Millsap, has confidence as high as the altitude of Mile High City when it comes to the future of his new team.

When asked by Chris Dempsey of Altitude Sports to draw parallels between his former team, the Atlanta Hawks and the Nuggets, the 11-year veteran noted that the mix of youth and talent on Denver’s roster would equal to success and adds that it could even surpass the 60-win Haws squad he was part of before.

“I think that especially with the young guys that we have now in Denver, the growth is unbelievable. The sky is the limit. I think this team can be a lot better than that team, and that was a 60-win team. I’m coming into this thing with high hopes, knowing and understanding what the situation is and knowing that we can be that team.”

As someone who’s been around the league for over a decade, Millsap knows how hard it is to pull off such a season, let alone do it in the Western Conference, where a gaggle of legitimate title contenders such as the Golden State Warriors, the Houston Rockets, and the San Antonio Spurs await his Nuggets next season.

But Millsap’s words could also be taken as his way of infusing some pizzaz to Denver, which almost made it to the playoffs last season with a 40-42 record, just a game behind of the eighth seeded Portland Trail Blazers.

There’s no denying, however, the incredible cast of young talent the Nuggets have right now for Millsap to complement. Up-and-comers like Nikola Jokic, Garry Harris, and Emmanuel Mudiay certainly are all excited to team up with a respected vet in Millsap.
