With Anthony Davis on his way to being traded this summer, the New Orleans Pelicans don't have a heck of a lot to look forward to right now, especially considering the fact that they aren't making the playoffs this season. But head coach Alvin Gentry has found one bright spot to take note of — rookie forward Kenrich Williams.

Gentry loves the youngster's work ethic and heaped praise upon him following New Orleans' overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night:

“You just can’t look at a stat sheet,” said Gentry, according to Pelicans beat writer Jim Eichenhofer. “You have to be at the game, and see (his) winning plays, that get you an extra possession, a rebound or defensive stop. When I say he's a coaches’ player, those are things I'm talking about.”

Williams finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, and three assists in the win.

He has played in 37 games this season and has made 20 starts, averaging 5.9 points and 4.6 rebounds over 22.2 minutes per game while shooting 39.1 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 64.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at TCU, went undrafted and ended up signing a multi-year deal with the Pelicans back in late July.

He played three seasons at TCU, finishing out his collegiate career last season by registering 13.2 points, 9.3 boards, 3.9 assists, and 1.8 steals across 36 minutes a night while making 47.7 percent of his field-goal attempts, 39.5 percent of his long-distance tries, and 68.8 percent of his foul shots.

The Pelicans improved to 31-42 after Monday evening's victory.
