New Orleans Pelicans power forward Julius Randle left Monday night's preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks after a hard fall in the third quarter, but he's expected to be fine, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The bull-strong power forward out of Kentucky signed a two-year, $18 million deal with the Pelicans in July after the Los Angeles Lakers renounced his free agent rights. The second year of his contract with the Pelicans is a player option, so Randle can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019 if he declines the option.

The Pelicans have now seen two big men go down with an injury in the first two preseason games. Jahlil Okafor sprained his ankle versus the Chicago Bulls on Sunday and left on crutches. It appears, though, that Randle's injury is not as serious as Okafor's.

In 82 regular season games last year with the Lakers, Randle averaged 16.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, shooting 55.8 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.8 percent from the free-throw line. He will take over as Anthony Davis’ new partner in crime after DeMarcus Cousins’ departure. Expect the Pelicans to play it safe with Randle and sit him for the third preseason game.
