Golden State Warriors center and former member of the New Orleans Pelicans DeMarcus Cousins knew star big man Anthony Davis was going to request a trade from the Pelicans.

Cousins says after all the “goofy junk that went down” last summer with him and the franchise during free agency, he knew Davis was going to ask out of New Orleans:

After tearing his Achilles last season with the Pelicans, New Orleans decided not to re-sign DeMarcus Cousins in free agency.

Cousins joined the Warriors on a one-year deal, ending the lethal frontcourt duo he and Anthony Davis formed with the Pelicans. Davis signed with agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports right before the 2018-19 season started. Paul, of course, is the agent of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

Davis won his first playoff series in 2018 with the Pelicans, as New Orleans swept the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. It appears, though, that once Cousins wasn't re-signed by New Orleans, Davis knew it was time to end his tenure with the Pelicans. At least that's what Cousins thinks.

New Orleans will try to trade Davis this summer after deciding not to move him at the February trade deadline. AD can become a free agent in 2020.
