New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson hinted he has more in his bag during his individual media session on Wednesday.

Williamson explained he felt like he was just trying to fit in and find his place in his rookie year. He is hoping a new coaching staff and roster will allow him to showcase the full extent of his game:

“I feel like there is a lot of my game that I wasn’t able to showcase last year due to just trying to fit in with the team, find my place,” Williamson said, via Christian Clark of the New Orleans Advocate. “Just trying not to be the rookie to mess up. It was a lot mentally that I was trying to process all at once. Starting off fresh in year two, we’ve got a lot of new staff and new things going on around here, so hopefully, we can come together quicker with that.”

Zion entered the NBA with arguably as much hype as any No. 1 pick since LeBron James.

Williamson had gone from high-school internet sensation to international superstar in just a few short years, though the product did not have a chance to match the hype.

The former Duke star underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a meniscus injury prior to the start of the regular season. Williamson dazzled with his play upon making his debut in January, but he subsequently struggled during the NBA restart and had a notably negative impact on New Orleans' team defense when he was on the floor.

Still, Zion is inherently part of the team's core, and the Pelicans will hope he can make a big leap under new head coach Stan Van Gundy.
