It's no secret that the New York Knicks are facing a lot of uncertainty after yet another disappointing season. Their front office will need to make a huge decision on Carmelo Anthony this summer and also address the frustrations of Kristaps Porzingis on the team's direction. Phil Jackson has reportedly tried to address the latter, in hopes of lessening the tasks they have on their plate immediately.

The Zen Master met with Janis Porzingis, the 7-foot-3 Latvian international's brother and agent, to discuss the issues he has concerning the team. However, that did not solve anything yet, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

“However, the lengthy sit-down in New York accomplished very little to bridge the chasm as Jackson remained steadfast in his ways and direction, according to a team source…”

“Both Jackson and Janis spoke around these issues to the media prior to their meeting, with the latter telling ESPN that Kristaps wants to remain in New York but also desires for the Knicks to create an environment where he can develop and grow as a player and win.”

“Apparently Porzingis can’t do much about the future, either, with Jackson unrelenting in his philosophies while aiming to increase his influence over the coaching staff. According to sources, one of Jackson’s objectives is to tailor the workouts and training sessions around learning the triangle offense.”

Despite the addition of key players last year, the Knicks once again missed out on the playoffs and could start to rebuild around Porzingis, should they ultimately convince Anthony to waive his no-trade clause, and agree to be dealt this summer.

It remains to be seen if the 21-year-old big man would be on the same page as Jackson, which the team and their fans are hoping for. Next year, he will be eligible to sign a max contract and the Knicks are expected to offer one to him to keep his services. Until then, the team will need to make sure he's happy and willing to remain in New York, and also try to make him feel that he can win with the franchise.
