In the last several days, the rumor has picked around possible landing spots for Phoenix Suns veteran point guard Eric Bledsoe.

During this process, the Detroit Pistons had reportedly emerged in trade discussions with a trade offer that included veteran point guard Reggie Jackson and a first-round pick in exchange for Bledsoe. All of this chatter had pushed head coach Stan Van Gundy to reassure Jackson that the team did not want to move him, according to Rod Beard of The Detroit News.

“It was crazy yesterday,” Van Gundy said Friday. “I left practice yesterday and there’s a rumor out on Reggie and Bledsoe so I had to get home and call Reggie and say we’re not trading you for Bledsoe. I don’t usually address all of them but it’s early in the (season). You can’t address all of them at the trade deadline, but I felt the need to address this.”

Although Van Gundy personally squashed the trade rumors around Jackson to him directly, it doesn't hide the fact that he has been prominently discussed as being moved over the last several months. Much of this has stemmed from the numerous internal conflict come about over that time.
What could also silence the trade chatter is the Pistons' level of success this season as they have won six out of their first nine games, which is currently tied for the second-best record in the Eastern Conference only a game behind the Boston Celtics.
Jackson is currently in the third year of his five-year, $80 million deal that doesn't include any player or team options. If either the Pistons struggle or another internal issue arises with Jackson, the trade talks could once again arise.
