Just a few days after opening a lot of eyes interview for the Detroit Pistons job, it now appears that John Beilein has pulled his name from consideration and will continue as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. On Wednesday morning, Beilein took to Twitter and said he loves the University of Michigan.

I love the University of Michigan and I am excited about coaching our Men’s Basketball Team next season and in the years to come ! Let’s go hang some more banners at “THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD “ #GoBlue

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also confirmed that Dwane Casey met with the Pistons on Tuesday, and that Beilein was indeed pulling his name out of consideration.

Beilein has been the coach of the Wolverines for the last 11 seasons, and already has the most wins in program history. He has also led the Wolverines to a couple of National Title games — although he is still looking for his first win in those games.

There had been talk of a contract extension, and this might have just been a ploy to make sure it got done. Back in May, Beilein told the Detroit Free Press that it was close to getting done.

“As a matter of fact we are (talking about that),” Beilein said. “Warde and I have been so busy and apart, but we’re working on that right now.

“So stay tuned.”

Michigan's athletic director Warde Manuel voiced the same feelings.

“I don’t want John Beilein to coach anywhere else and he knows that,” Manuel said last month. “He understands my feelings towards that. You can take that for what it’s worth.
