Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed a desire to get more out of rookie running back Darrell Henderson on Monday.
In an email sent by the Rams communication today, McVay, the 33-year-old wunderkind coach coming off a Super Bowl bid with the LA football franchise, said the 21-year-old Henderson needs to be more consistent in the backfield.
The Rams selected the RB Henderson out of Memphis in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-8 Henderson rushed for 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns in his junior year with the Tigers in 2018. Additionally, Henderson proved himself as a passing threat out of the backfield, connecting on 19 receptions for 295 yards and three touchdowns.
Henderson made his semi-professional debut in the Rams' first preseason game, a 14-3 loss to the state-sharing Bay Area organization in the Oakland Raiders. The rookie RB only rushed for 13 yards on six carries, making Oakland's defensive line look like a juggernaut.
