When someone is looking to move into a city, the aspects they’re looking at are well-paying jobs, a low cost of living, and good schools.  Additionally, they’re looking at the type of attractions the city has to offer. There are 29 different NBA cities in the league; in this article, we list the five best NBA cities to live in.

5. Chicago, Illinois

If it weren’t for the winter weather, Chicago would’ve been ranked higher. Nevertheless, Chicago is such a charming city to live in,  as they offer world-class dining, nightlife, and affordable housing.  Also, the city is easy to navigate through, unlike Los Angeles and New York.

According to Livability, Chicago’s job market has improved significantly over the years. Not to mention, several NBA legends have played in the city of Chicago, such as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

4. Miami, Florida

Although the cost of living in Miami is high, the taxes are low, since there’s no state income tax in Florida. Also, according to Life Storage, the job market is not as competitive as in other cities.

Miami also owns arguably the best beach in the United States, Miami Beach. Miami Beach has become a temptation spot for many NBA players who visit the city to play the Heat during the regular season.

3. Toronto, Ontario

Despite the cold weather, Toronto is arguably one of the best NBA cities to live in. Toronto is known for its safe environment, multicultural community, and its famous restaurants. Living in Toronto also allows you to explore the many attractions the city has to offer, such as Ripley’s aquarium, The Royal Ontario Museum, and the Distillery District.

Also, Toronto is home to CN Tower, which is the tallest building in the country. Visiting the CN Tower allows you to view the entire city, which is such beautiful scenery.

Additionally, if you live in Toronto, you have the opportunity to attend Raptors’ games and experience the fan base, which is known to be the best in the NBA.

2. New York City, New York

New York City is home to Madison Square Garden, one of the most famous arenas in all sports. Despite having to watch a New York Knicks game, you’ll at least get to enjoy the atmosphere of the building. Other than the arena, people also get to experience the attractions New York has to offer, such as Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and Central Park.

Additionally, Rucher Park, arguably the most famous playground in basketball, is located in New York City. Several NBA legends have played at Rucher Park, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Julius Erving. Also, as of today, Rucker Park is open to the public.

1. Los Angeles, California

Despite the traffic and gas prices, Los Angeles ranks No. 1 on our list. LA is known for its weather, food, and beautiful scenery, which makes is the best NBA city to live in. There are so many attractions in LA, such as Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Blvd, Venice Beach, and many more. UCLA, one of the best universities in the world, is also located in LA. So if you’re looking at going to one of the best schools in the world, then LA is the place to live in.

Additionally, LA is the epicenter for the NBA’s offseason. Several NBA star players like Ben Simmons, Russel Westbrook, and James Harden all own homes here in LA and train during the offseason. NBA trainer Rico Hines also hosts his infamous basketball runs during the summer in LA, and several NBA players participate in it.

Also, the most entertaining games in LA are at the Drew League, which has become arguably the best summer basketball league in the world. The Drew League consists of NBA players, top-ranked high school recruits, and even old NBA veterans. Not to mention, all games are free to the public, no tickets required to watch.

Nevertheless, if you’re a big NBA fan, LA is the place to live.
