Ready or Not is a new tactical first-person shooter taking on the task of the SWAT police force. Developed by VOID Interactive, the game was recently released on Steam back on December 18, 2021. It’s currently Steam’s best-selling game and the player base is continuously growing every day. Not only is it a recently released game but it also means that everyone is a newcomer. With that being said, here are some tips and tricks for beginners in Ready or Not

Bust down doors with C2 Charges

Considering that the game is about search and warrant arrests, planning your entrance is key in the game. Naturally, you’d think entering hostile territory less aggressively is the safer option to avoid casualties. However, the safer option can also be the riskier option because of passiveness and time consumed. This is why we suggest using C2 Charges to bust down doors before making an entry.

How does blowing up doors make things better? Utilizing C2 Charges can actually do a multitude of things. The most obvious result would be blowing up the door, but, it also concusses anyone in the room. Pretty much C2 Charges can also serve as flashbangs meaning you no longer need to throw an actual flashbang grenade. Keep in mind, it will only concuss enemies standing near the door. In addition to that, blowing up the door will immediately kill the enemy behind the door. That part alone will make entering a room a lot easier without having to worry about nearby hostiles. However, do be careful since there are chances that a civilian could be behind the door as well.

Make use of Door Wedges

Entering enemy territory doesn’t always mean all hostiles will be hiding from the SWAT unit. There are high chances that enemy flankers within the vicinity are just waiting for their moment to strike back. This gives the SWAT unit more things to worry about. Thankfully, there is a trick to prevent this scenario.

It’s really as simple as placing door wedges underneath doors of possible flanking spots. Players should be expecting multiple doors around the area which is a dangerous situation for your team. Placing these door wedges can completely stop these doors from opening preventing any threatening scenarios. Plus, players can also place these wedges under possible evacuation doors for the enemies. It’s a great way to prevent enemy hostiles from running away.

Know how to use the Low Ready feature

Knowing that Ready or Not is an FPS, naturally, players would want to have the option to sprint. Sadly, the game doesn’t have that feature and might not ever have it. However, there is a way to walk faster in the game and that’s by toggling the Low Ready feature.

We’re pretty sure not many of you are aware of this feature since its keybinding is the Delete Button. No FPS player has ever used the Delete Button under any circumstances. Thankfully, players can always change the keybindings in the settings menu just like any other game. We suggest binding Low Ready with the Left Shift Button since that’s normally the sprint button in FPS games. Keep in mind that the Left Shift Button is initially Walk. So you’ll have to bind Walk to another key that you’re most comfortable pressing on.

Track the rooms you've been in with Chemlights

Ready or Not has a variety of maps. Some are small while some have quite a few rooms to cover while some are full of doors to clear. Clearing numerous rooms can become quite confusing especially if you’re not sure if you’ve already cleared a room or not. This is where Chemlights will come in handy.

Chemlights can serve as a guide or a marker indicating that you’ve already cleared a room. These will be very useful especially in the larger maps. Just make sure you’ve already cleared the room and gathered loot before placing these Chemlights. Also, keep in mind that players are only allotted 10 Chemlights, better use them wisely.

Don’t stand in front of the door

This is a common mistake that players would commit. Before entering a room, players would typically scan what’s behind the door and within the room. Chances are that enemy hostiles behind the door can hear your movement causing them to attack from behind the door. If this happens while a player is standing in front of the door, they can easily get shot. We suggest that players should do their scanning on the side of the door instead to avoid harm’s way.

It’s pretty much understandable that the majority of Ready or Not players are still adjusting. It is a new game after all. Eventually, current active players, in the long run, will get used to the game’s mechanics. Hopefully, these tips will help you improve your gameplay. Ready or Not is now available to download on Steam.
