Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen has announced his retirement from the NFL after 14 seasons playing for three teams. Olsen made the announcement on the FOX pregame show, and also revealed that he will join the network as an analyst.

The 35-year old, who spent his final season with the Seahawks, was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the 31st overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons there. In 2012, he was traded to the Carolina Panthers, where he flourished and spent the next nine seasons before joining Seattle in 2020. In his final season in the league, the tight end had eight starts in 11 games for the Seahawks, finishing with 24 receptions, 239 receiving yards, and one score.

During his time with former quarterback Cam Newton and the Panthers, Olsen was a three-time Pro Bowler from 2014-2016 and was a Second Team All-Pro selection in 2015 and 2016. Olsen was at his best during the 2015 season, when he helped the Panthers to a 15-1 record and a trip to the Super Bowl in Newton’s MVP season. During that season, the Miami product played all 16 games and had 77 receptions, a career-best 1,104 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. Aside from the 2015 season, Olsen also finished with at least 1,000 receiving yards during the 2014 and 2016 seasons.

Even after leaving Carolina, Olsen still leads all tight ends who have played for the franchise in receiving yards (6,463), receptions (524), and 100-yard receiving games (10). On the all-time list, he ranks fifth among tight ends during the Super Bowl era in receiving yards with 8683 and receptions with 742.
