The Seattle Seahawks and star linebacker Frank Clark are currently locked in a contract standoff, as Clark does not want to play under a franchise tag in 2019 and the Seahawks have not made much progress on trying to reach a long-term deal with him.

Naturally, with the two sides bickering, there has been some chatter that Seattle could potentially Clark, but, according to Jay Glazer of The Athletic, that talk has cooled down.

“Well, a couple of teams were interested in trading for him right at the start of free agency, but I haven’t heard anything since; it’s died down,” said Glazer. “I know they love Frank Clark up there. He’s a great pass rusher. At this point, unless someone makes him a phenomenal offer, I think they sit tight on him.”

Not only does Clark not want to play out the 2019 campaign on a franchise tag, but he also apparently will not re-sign with the Seahawks next offseason if they don't come to terms with him on a long-term agreement, so there is certainly plenty of incentive here for Seattle to get a deal done.

After all, Clark is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, as he is coming off of a season in which he racked up 41 tackles, 13 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles, and a couple of fumble recoveries.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the second round (63rd pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.
