The Philadelphia 76ers are out of the NBA playoffs and back to trying to build a stronger team. Team president Daryl Morey made it clear that Doc Rivers will be around for the Sixers.

Morey and Rivers held a joint press conference the day after the Sixers lost to the Miami Heat. When asked about Rivers being back for next season, Morey needed just one word to say that he will be staying on board. He added that Rivers is a “great coach”.

Rivers' two seasons on the job with Philadelphia have both resulted in a second-round exit. He snapped back at a question in the post-game press conference about his job security. Now, he has Morey's support for being back next season. The Los Angeles Lakers were ready to scoop Rivers up if he got fired.

The Sixers have a very busy offseason ahead of them. James Harden could be a free agent, so Morey will have to decide how to keep him, which he said is his goal. The roster needs lots of help around Joel Embiid in order to compete for a championship.

Despite Rivers' poor track record in the postseason since winning the NBA championship in 2008, the Sixers will look to him for leadership in the 2022-23 campaign. The core trio of Rivers, Embiid and Harden will seemingly have a full offseason to work together in their pursuit of a title.
