The Los Angeles Lakers have begun the search for their next head coach. After looking into two coaches who were already on the market, they are hoping that the Philadelphia 76ers will provide them with another candidate. Doc Rivers lost in the second round in his second season with the Sixers and sounds like a man who is just fed up.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Lakers are ready to make a move for Rivers if he gets canned by Philadelphia. Los Angeles is looking into the situation closely. Windhorst didn't dismiss the idea of the Sixers firing him but added that there are several aspects to their decision and did not claim that it was a likelihood.

The Sixers are not expected to fire Rivers despite his failures with the team and revisionist history that the team was in poor shape when he arrived. The Lakers surely don't mind his shortcomings and are focused on his championship pedigree. A battle-tested coach is just what they prefer for LeBron James, Anthony Davis and company.

Although the Sixers and Joel Embiid may be better off without Rivers, they seem committed to him. The Lakers will have to look elsewhere for a coach unless that relationship goes south quickly. They are looking into Kenny Atkinson, Terry Stotts and Mark Jackson, among others.

The Lakers have a massive decision to make regarding their head coaching vacancy. They may not have much more time with James and have to make up for the catastrophe that was last season.
