What would our mundane lives be without a daily dose of the seemingly endless Ben Simmons drama?

It's clear that Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers are nowhere near reaching an agreement with training camp about to start. The disgruntled playmaker has already shut the door on his teammates who planned to reach out to him. With the saga not ending soon, Sixers coach Doc Rivers is left to rethink his game plan.

Good thing for Rivers, he has a decent amount of backcourt talent at his disposal. When asked about who would replace Simmons in the starting lineup, the veteran mentor didn't give a definitive answer to the reporters (via Heavy).

“Yeah, yeah, I do know. I think you’ll figure it out. I don’t think that’s hard, really.”

Rivers, however, was all praises for sophomore PG Tyrese Maxey when prodded more about filling the hole that could be left by Simmons.

“I like him. His next step, for me, is defensively. I’m telling you that kid works and it’s rare you see a guy with the talent that he has. Raw talent. And the work that he puts in, it’s rare that doesn’t turn into success. High character. He just has all the ingredients in my opinion to turn out to be a heck of a basketball player.”

Possibly battling Maxey for Simmons' spot is Shake Milton, a more experienced guard who had a breakout campaign last season, averaging a career-high 13.0 points on 45.0 percent shooting from the field.

Whoever Rivers chooses, it has become clear that the Sixers would be better off right now without Ben Simmons.
