Philadelphia 76ers All-star big man Joel Embiid is one of the most difficult matchups on the court. His average last season of 22.9 points, 11 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game do not give much justice on how difficult it is to cover him with his strength, plus his inside-outside proficiency on offense.

However, off the court, Embiid is no slouch either. The self-declared “King of Social Media”, the All-NBA selection rules the Internet with his antics, witty banter, and jabs.

Recently, someone stood up to the mighty Cameroonian. It was none other than his protege, Orlando Magic big man rookie Mo Bamba. During their preseason matchup, Joel Embiid mostly outplayed his apprentice on route to a Sixer win with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in 23 minutes, while Bamba managed 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists in 17 minutes.

However, the real matchup here was never on the court, but on social media.

According to a tweet from Sixers Nation, the two big men took jabs at each other related to their preseason performance.

In one of his rare successful moments against Embiid, the photo on the tweet is Bamba successfully using his length against his mentor. Despite that, Embiid is clearly a light year away compared to the Magic rookie. Judging by their relationship and both being in the Eastern Conference, there is a good chance that this will not be the last time we see a hilarious back and forth within the two.

With the season opener quickly approaching, it would be worthwhile to keep an eye out on both big men on who will ultimately be on top in the future.
