The Philadelphia 76ers’ social media team may very well end up with the night’s most savage mic drop.

After it was settled once and for all who the top rookie was in the 2017-18 NBA after Ben Simmons took home the Rookie of the Year Award Monday night, the Sixers’ Twitter account immediately put their Photoshop skills to good use, posting an edited version of the van that carried Donovan Mitchell to the event.

Are we sure it’s not Sixers center and social media burn master Joel Embiid running the team’s Twitter account?

For those who need a background, Mitchell was seen riding a van to the event with the word “Rookie?” emblazoned on its exterior – an apparent dig at Ben Simmons’ eligibility for the contested award.

Simmons got the last laugh, though, as it was him who got the right to take home the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy.

Donovan Mitchell, however, showed a different side inside the venue, as he was the first one to approach Ben Simmons to congratulate him for winning the coveted recognition.

While Mitchell ultimately did not get the trophy he so coveted, it was still classy for him to show Simmons such a kind gesture. It probably took a lot for him to swallow his pride at that moment and show Simmons some love, which is also why it just feels so wrong for us to at least let out a chuckle at that savage Sixers tweet.
