The Philadelphia 76ers have officially filed a trademark for “Trust The Process,” a catchphrase that motivated the Sixers' growth into one of the hottest commodities in the league.

The Sixers' story from a cellar-dwelling team to one of the top dogs in the Eastern Conference is widely acclaimed by basketball fans. When the team went into full rebuilding mode under former general manager Sam Hinkie, the “Trust The Process” statement began to embody the Sixers' culture and identity.

It was indeed a process as Philly fans had to endure their hometown team tanking season after season to get lottery picks in the draft. It may have been an unconventional way to develop a team, but the Sixers were able to build a serious contender out of their recent draft picks.

Basketball has always been in the soul of Philadelphia, and the team's top draftees in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have revived the greatness of Sixers basketball. Last year's top overall pick Markelle Fultz is slowly but steadily coming along after a tough rookie season, a sight of excitement for the Brett Brown-led team.

While the Sixers are yet to give the city a basketball championship again, the process is coming to a full circle. Years removed from when they would call up D-League players just to fill out their roster, they have since signed proven veterans such as J.J. Redick to provide more experience and depth on a team that is vying for another title.
