After a couple of weeks of being COVID-19 free, the league is once again dealing with a shaky situation as the San Antonio Spurs have registered four positive tests. The NBA is taking action by postponing the Spurs' next three games (Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers), with the Charlotte Hornets' next two games (Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets) postponed due to contact tracing.

The league put out a statement on Tuesday morning:

Due to this, the NBA has added a game between the Nuggets and Cavs on Friday:

The Spurs' most recent game was a 122-110 victory over the Hornets on Sunday night. Monday brought news of  one positive test for San Antonio, resulting in Tuesday's scheduled game against the Detroit Pistons being postponed, but now there are four positives and at least three more postponements.

The Spurs are in the middle of a seven-game road trip, and now their next scheduled game is set to come against the Oklahoma City Thunder next Wednesday. That game was to be the seventh and final game of the trip. It remains to be seen if San Antonio will be ready to return for that game.

Head coach Gregg Popovich and the Spurs are currently on a two-game winning streak to account for a 16-11 record for the sixth spot in the Western Conference. They will continue to quarantine in Charlotte as they wait out this situation.

On the other hand, the Hornets are holding a 13-15 tally for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. LaMelo Bell and Gordon Hayward have injected a lot of life into Charlotte so far this season, which has them in the mix for a playoff spot.

This Spurs outbreak comes after the Washington Wizards missed extended time back in January due to COVID-19. While the NBA was hoping to be past these issues, it's not out of the woods yet.
