In the last several days, things have become more intensified with the Pittsburgh Steelers concerning star running back Le'Veon Bell, which has led to several of his teammates voicing their displeasure with the holdout extending into Week 1 of the regular season.

With that in mind, former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew has chimed in on the situation on Wednesday voicing that this criticism from a few Steelers players is quite surprising to see happen now and not earlier in the summer when Bell's deal couldn't get done.

The Steelers were unable to work out a long-term extension with Bell for the second straight year, which has put the franchise in this position once again with the Pro Bowler. It has now drawn more attention given that this has happened in each of the last two offseasons without any resolution being met. This pushed Bell to seriously act on his behalf to a much greater degree since he hasn't been able to get close to hammer out a new deal in what could be his final year with the franchise.

The anger arising from the Steelers is more so that Bell hasn't shown up to the team practice facility given that he can't don't anything concerning his contract until next offseason. This has given off the notion that he should be back with the franchise due to that fact alone while getting enough time to physically get himself ready to go to begin this upcoming season.

This has all become a murky situation that could become more complicated the longer that Bell decides to holdout as it certainly has a major impact on his teammates. Until this situation becomes resolved, it will continue to be a lingering conversation around the team heading into this upcoming season and likely well throughout it.
