For the third straight year, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to go at it in the NBA finals, adding fuel to the already-heated rivalry. After blowing a now-infamous 3-1 lead in last year's championship round, the Warriors look eager to set the score straight in a rubber match between the NBA's juggernaut teams.

Warriors superstar and two-time MVP Stephen Curry believes that this series will in fact be the true test of which team is tops in the league. During NBA TV's media availability session Wednesday afternoon, Curry referred to the much-anticipated matchup tomorrow as “the ultimate rubber match”.

In an interview with NBA TV's David Aldridge, Curry said:

“It's the ultimate rubber match. Kind of no debate after this, who the better team is on this stage.”

With one win in the finals each, the Cavs and Dubs are looking to secure their place in history as the most dominant team of the current era. With a rivalry reminiscent of the old Lakers and Celtics teams of the past, the rubber match between the two teams is sure to be must-see television.

However, with the current landscape of the NBA, these two teams could easily see each other in many more Finals to come. With the league currently being so top-heavy, the Cavaliers and Warriors could very well continue to face off every June for an indefinite period of time.

For all we know, this rivalry could turn into a best of seven (or more). Regardless, it's going to be a fun series to watch, to say the least.
