Towards the tail end of the Phoenix Suns’ win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, there was some extra curricular action in a game with the final result well in hand.
With less than 10 seconds left in a game separated by three scores, TWolves forward taurean prince shoved Chris Paul for a foul that seemed to have no intention but to retaliate against the Suns guard for showing him up.
Prince had just air-balled his final attempt and Chris Paul decided to have some fun with a dribble between his defender’s legs to escape with the win. But Prince chased him down just to give him rather healthy hip check.
Wolves-Suns spread was PHX -8.

After the game, Chris Paul was asked about the contact. Instead of letting things linger, the Suns star was more understanding about the play.
Via Duane Rankin:
“I ain’t tripping. It is what it is,” said Chris Paul after the Suns win. “I get it. Nobody ever wants to be embarrassed. I wasn’t trying to embarrass him. I’m trying to get by him.”

It was certainly just a bad beat for Taurean Prince, who just airmailed his last attempt and got hit with a playground move right after.
But as long as the Suns end up on the winning side, Chris Paul probably isn’t going to be bothered by anything else.
