Don’t look now but another NBA player has suffered another horrific injury, the third leg injury in the last week alone. The Phoenix Suns’ Isaiah Canaan landed awkwardly on his way to the basket as videos show his ankle bending the wrong way.

The injury occurred during a play as the clock was winding down in the first quarter of their game versus the Dallas Mavericks. Canaan was driving down the lane on a fastbreak to score a bucket before time ran out. He was fouled and the contact led to Canaan falling uncontrollably to the floor.

His ankle bent under the weight of his body being supported by a single leg as nearly everyone had to look away at the gruesome sight.

Canaan had to be carried off the court on a stretcher and according to AZ Central, Canaan was diagnosed with a left ankle fracture.

Earlier this year, Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward suffered a similar freak accident as he was trying to catch an alley-oop. Hayward’s ankle broke after he fell down and the game was stopped for several minutes to attend to his injury. It was later diagnosed as a fractured ankle that was said to be a clean break, requiring a straightforward medical procedure.

The NBA is reeling from a recent spate of injuries since the New Orleans Pelicans’ DeMarcus Cousins went down last week. Days later, the Denver Nuggets’ Mason Plumlee injured himself during a free-throw rebounding scramble.

Canaan is playing in his first year with the Suns.
