Phoenix Suns rookie big man Deandre Ayton and star shooting guard Devin Booker “exchanged words” after the Suns lost to the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, according to Duane Rankin of AZCentral.

The Suns got blown out by the Trail Blazers, losing by a final score of 108-86. For the second consecutive game, Phoenix scored just nine points in the first quarter.

From rookie Mikal Bridges and Kokoskov having friction during the game to Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker exchanging words afterward, there’s clearly tension and a disconnect with this team right now.

Phoenix’s top two players, Booker and Ayton, exchanged words after the 10-minute cooling off period as members of the media entered the visiting locker room for the tail end of that conversation.

These two have had words before on the court, with Booker correcting Ayton on what to do on certain plays. Both have agreed to hold players accountable, but this felt different.

The Suns are a walking disaster. They are 4-21 on the season and have the worst offense in the NBA, scoring only 102.4 points per game. Rookie head coach Igor Kokoskov appears to have already lost the team. Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker are supposed to be the franchise cornerstones, and the two youngsters are already getting into heated arguments. It has just been a disasterous start to the season for Phoenix.

Booker is currently out with a hamstring injury, so the offensive load has been on Ayton's shoulders in his absence. The No. 1 overall pick is averaging 15.8 points and 10.1 rebounds on the season.
