The Houston Texans are heading another direction sans former head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien after a disappointing 0-4 start to the season. Associate head coach Romeo Crennel was eventually named as the team's interim head coach for the time being.

O'Brien faced harsh criticism after trading wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for veteran running back David Johnson and a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft during the offseason. Their slow start to the season was indicative of the huge hole left in the team's offense by the departed All-Pro wide receiver.

Four weeks into the season, the Texans have yet to snag a win and placed dead last in the same AFC South division that they ruled a year ago. According to Sarah Barshop, sources told ESPN‘s Dianna Russini that things started to fall apart two weeks ago.

“That's when [O'Brien] lost the team,” a source told Russini.

The Texans were faced with heavy opposition with what ESPN's Football Power Index said was the toughest schedule in the league. They kicked off their 2020 campaign against the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Minnesota Vikings which all resulted in losses.

Despite the struggles this season, O'Brien still leaves Houston as the only coach in Texans history with a winning record. He garnered an overall record of 52-48 and won four division titles through seven seasons at the helm.

The McNair family hopes that the recent firing of Bill O'Brien could open a new chapter and power the struggling Texans squad back to its winning ways.
