Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan is one of the biggest names on the planet. As it turns out, however, even Jordan himself still answers to his own mother.
Recently, “The Last Dance” director Jason Hehir went on ESPN's “The Jalen & Jacoby Aftershow” and shared how Jordan's mom, Deloris, got on Michael's case about smoking a cigar while doing his first interview for the docuseries. Being the good son that he is, MJ naturally followed his mom's directive:
“He couldn’t have a cigar on set because his mom got mad at him,” Hehir said, via Dan Santaromita of NBC Sports Chicago. “He said, ‘I can’t have the cigars today because my mom got mad at me because she saw me smoking a cigar.'”
Michael Jordan is now 57 and has a net worth in the billions of dollars. Nonetheless, when his mom speaks, MJ listens.
This speaks volumes of the relationship between the Chicago Bulls legend and his mother. Jordan was obviously raised to be an obedient son, and the ultimate respect he holds for his mother has not wavered to this very day.
It is worth noting that Michael Jordan's father, James, was tragically murdered in 1993 at the peak of Michael's career. It is highly likely that this incident brought MJ closer to his mom. Their relationship has grown through the years, and perhaps at this point in his life, with his kids all grown up, Michael has a better perspective of how much hard work and sacrifices Deloris put in raising their family.
