Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Josh Giddey has missed the team's last four games due to a hip injury, and by the looks of it, he's nowhere close to returning.

Head coach Mark Daigneault revealed as much in his talk with the media after Saturday's practice, noting that it will be a “couple of weeks” before the next update on Giddey comes. The Australian playmaker is dealing with a hip soreness and the team has been providing treatment for him in hopes that he can still return before the season ends.

“We’re trying to balance development but also being cautious and being wise,” Daigneault said, per USA Today. “We’ll learn a lot more in a couple weeks here. See how he responds with the treatment he’s getting now.”

There's only a little over one month left in the 2021-22 season, which means Josh Giddey will only have two weeks of NBA basketball left if he's able to return in the fourth week of March. Of course that is still a big question mark since it's unknown where the rookie is at in his recovery.

While the Thunder are not fighting for a playoff positioning, the final stretch of the season would have been a critical time for his development with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also playing now. They are viewed as the future of the franchise, and so developing chemistry between them would have been crucial heading to next season.

Hopefully, Giddey will be able to play for the Thunder sooner rather than later. He just won Rookie of the Month for February, and it has to be frustrating for him not to continue his dominant run.
