Heading into the 2017-18 NBA season, all the attention is on Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony for the Oklahoma City Thunder. While the Thunder only traded role players for the two All-Stars, their bench depth needs to improve if they want to be a legitimate championship contender.

Although Raymond Felton is expected to be Westbrook's backup, the Thunder signed Isaiah Canaan, who spent this past season with the Chicago Bulls. After Canaan averaged 5.7 points and 2.0 assists in three appearances during the preseason, the Thunder are reportedly waiving him according to Mike Scotto of Basketball Insiders:

As of right now, the Thunder head into the new season with Westbrook, Felton, and Semaj Christon at the point guard position. Christon, who is a former second round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, averaged 2.9 points and 2.0 assists in 64 appearances last season.

While the challenge of establishing a big three in Oklahoma City is complete, it will be interesting to see what general manager Sam Presti does to address the team's bench during the course of the season. Along with the two blockbuster trades, the Thunder selected Terrance Ferguson with the 21th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft while signing Patrick Patterson this offseason.
