It has happened! After Miguel Cabrera was walked by Aaron Boone and the Yankees on Thursday and rain caused the Tigers game to be postponed on Friday, Miguel Cabrera was finally able to get his 3,000th hit on Saturday at Comerica Park. The hit was a single through the right side in true Miguel Cabrera fashion. He is just the 33rd player in the history of the MLB to reach the 3,000 hit mark and just the seventh player with at least 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.

This is truly a remarkable accomplishment for the future Hall-of-Famer.

Cabrera smiled and took in the moment following the historic base hit. The fans at Comerica Park were loud and the Detroit broadcast did a good job of letting the game breathe. It was an amazing moment for the Tigers and Miguel Cabrera. Once the game resumed, Cabrera came around to score on a Spencer Torkelson home run.

Cabrera started his career in Florida with the Marlins. He immediately displayed potential with the Marlins as a pure hitter. He had power and contact ability and played a major role in leading the Marlins to their World Series victory in 2003 as a rookie.

After five seasons with the team, Cabrera wound up in Detroit in 2008 where he has remained ever since.

Cabrera has a batting average of over .300 for his career to go along with the 500-plus home runs and now 3,000 hits.

And there will be plenty more hits to come this season for Miguel Cabrera as he aims to help the Tigers reach the postseason in 2022.
