The Minnesota Timberwolves are moving Jeff Teague to a bench role moving forward. According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, however, it is not an issue for the veteran point guard.

Teague was reportedly open to the idea of leading the second unit.

The Timberwolves will start Andrew Wiggins, Jarrett Culver, Treveon Graham, Robert Covington and Karl-Anthony Towns on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks.

In 12 games this season for the Timberwolves, Teague is averaging 13.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists. He's shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from beyond the arc and 82.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Minnesota enters Monday with a record of 8-8, which is good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

Teague signed a three-year, $57 million deal with Minnesota in the summer of 2017. He's making $19 million this season and becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The Timberwolves made the playoffs in 2018, losing to the Houston Rockets in the first round in five games. Minnesota missed the postseason in 2018-19, as they were never able to rebound from the Jimmy Butler trade drama.

It would be a cool story if Minnesota makes the playoffs this season. It's early, but the T-Wolves are playing sound basketball on both sides of the ball. They just have to clean up a few things moving forward.

It will be interesting to see if Teague is more aggressive on offense now that he's coming off the bench and won't have to defer to Wiggins, who has been playing a point-forward role this season.
