The Minnesota Timberwolves currently find themselves in need of a new head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau following Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Minnesota earned a 108-86 win over the Lakers, but apparently, that wasn't enough to help Thibodeau keep his job after what's certainly been a back and forth relationship between the franchise and its former coach.

However, the T'Wolves must now try to get a new coach in place rather quickly, and it sounds like current Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams could be a potential option.

From ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski:

Another coach held in high-regard in the Minnesota search that ultimately landed Thibodeau: 76ers assistant Monty Williams. Following a family tragedy at the time, Williams was not ready to return to head coaching.

Williams is one of the most well-respected coaches in the league, and his previous head coaching stop came with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he went 173-221 in his five seasons with the franchise.

Woj has also mentioned former Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg as a possibility, so there is certainly an intriguing list of candidates right now to take over for Thibodeau.

The T'Wolves, who sit at 19-21 on the season following the Lakers' win, may have a few distractions before returning to the court on Tuesday night for a road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After that, Minnesota will return to Target Center to play four of its next five games at home, and that should give the T'Wolves a chance to build more confidence despite the unknowns with the coaching search.
