The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to build on what was a noteworthy 2021-22 season for them. This includes adding the necessary pieces with the objective of putting forward a more formidable lineup this coming season. Unfortunately for him, D'Angelo Russell does not appear to be part of Minnesota's plans for the future.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Timberwolves have been looking to offload the 26-year-old:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have actively explored the market for D’Angelo Russell trade scenarios, sources told B/R.

No further details were provided, and it remains to be seen if other teams have registered interest in Russell. However, what is clear is that the Timberwolves are willing to let him go — at the right price, that is.

Last season, Russell averaged 18.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.0 steals in 32.0 minutes per game. He also knocked down 2.7 triples per contest on a 34.0-percent clip. He's obviously an integral part of Minnesota's offense, but it seems that the Timberwolves are looking to cash in on him now. Russell will be entering the final season of his deal next season, and he is expected to be a free agent in 2023.

It is worth noting, however, that Russell is good friends with Karl-Anthony Towns. This was actually one of the reasons why Russell came to Minnesota in the first place. It is currently unknown how KAT feels about the prospect of the Wolves sending his best friend packing.
