The Minnesota Timberwolves fell vastly short of expectations in the 2018-19 NBA season. As a result, it appears the era of forward Andrew Wiggins could potentially be coming to an end.

Recent rumors suggest that Minnesota could be open to trading their young franchise player. According to Trey Rodriguez of Hoops Inquirer, they are reportedly aggressive in their search for a potential trade partner.

This is certainly an interesting development coming out of Minnesota, though it is no secret that the Timberwolves have fallen short in their attempts to establish themselves as a Western Conference powerhouse.

Wiggins' lackluster progression during that time has been one of the more notable aspects of the Timberwolves' struggles. Although there was plenty of optimism that he would be able to take that next step into becoming a star player, he has provided little reason to believe that it will happen in the near future.

Now, it seems the Minny-Wiggins partnership may finally break this season.

Unfortunately, finding a suitable bid may prove to be a bit challenging for Minnesota. They made quite the investment when they signed Wiggins to a five-year, $148 million contract extension. The Timberwolves had hoped to justify their belief in him with the lucrative deal, however, it seems they are now starting to have second thoughts.

The front office may need to find a way to beef up the trade if they hope to find a team that is willing to take on the remaining years left on his current deal.
