Since taking over the Timberwolves, head coach Tom Thibodeau has been known as a guy who likes bringing back players he coached with the Chicago Bulls. It started last year with Jimmy Butler, Aaron Brooks, and Taj Gibson, and after the trade deadline they also brought in Derrick Rose.

Rose had a very good series in the playoffs against the Houston Rockets, and after it was over, Thibodeau raved about how well he played.

It seems almost destined that Rose will be back next year, and according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, that means Tyus Jones could be a trade candidate this offseason.

No question that they are interested in bringing Rose back. Thibs certainly heard plenty of questions when he first brought Rose in. But in that role as a combo guard off the bench, Rose was good. He played solid defense, scored well and was a great teammate. […] There is also no question Rose is interested in continuing to play for Thibs. These last few years have been chaotic for him and he wants to play for a coach he knows and trusts.

What does that mean for Tyus Jones? His playing time dwindled late in the season and in the playoffs as Rose’s increased. He certainly would seem to be a candidate to be traded.

Jones was a good backup last year behind Jeff Teague last year, averaging 5.1 points in 17.9 minutes per game, but once Rose came in, he didn't really see the floor.

If the Wolves do decide that they want to bring Rose back, the best thing might be to see what they can get for the former Duke Blue Devil.
