There is no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best young centers in the NBA today. His rare combination of size, outside shooting and ability to finish strong on vicious dunks have made him a nightmare matchup for the Minnesota Timberwolves opponents.

On Thursday against the Boston Celtics, Aron Baynes found out first hand why the former Rookie of the Year out of Kentucky has already been named an All-Star, and thought of highly by a lot of people. During the second quarter, the Australian international tried to stop his dunk attempt, but Towns was not going to be denied and threw down a powerful poster dunk on him. That brought the crowd inside Target Center on their feet, and cheered loudly after witnessing his impressive move.

Karl Anthony-Towns is enjoying another stellar season for the Wolves, averaging solid numbers of 20.4 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks in 35.0 minutes per game. More importantly, he has made it possible for his team to be in sixth place currently in the Western Conference with a 38-28 record. With Jimmy Butler currently out, he has stepped up his game further, leading the team's charge.

If Towns continues his good play throughout the remainder of the regular season, it won’t be a surprise if the Timberwolves will secure a playoff spot, and be a tough team to beat for whoever they’ll face. With him being a force for the team, it’s even possible that they can upset a favorite and live up to the expectations of their fans.
