Minnesota Timberwolves head coach/president Tom Thibodeau made his first public comments Monday since the franchise traded All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers, and he says forwards Robert Covington and Dario Saric are going to fit in well with the team.

The Timberwolves host the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Robert Covington, Dario Saric and the third player Minnesota acquired in the Butler trade, guard Jerryd Bayless, won't play.

Robert Covington is one of the most underrated players in the NBA and a great 3 and D player. The 27-year-old is averaging 11.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 39.0 percent from beyond the arc and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Dario Saric, meanwhile, is putting up 11.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists on the year. The 24-year-old is shooting 36.4 percent from the floor, 30.0 percent from the 3-point line and 90.0 percent from the charity stripe.

Both Covington and Saric will space the floor well for the Timberwolves. Playing alongside strong drivers in Andrew Wiggins, Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague will free up both players for good open looks from beyond the arc.

Robert Covington can defend at a really high-level too, something the Timberwolves need from him. Minnesota enters Monday with the third-worst defense in the NBA, as they are giving up 117.7 points per game.
