Covering live events is always both a good thing for viewers and a challenge for those who host them as they have to be spontaneous and careful at the same time. Such was the case during the NBA's All-Star Saturday festivities which Dennis Scott was recently tasked to work on.

However, the veteran analyst for NBA TV made a comment which was hard not to notice while interviewing the judges for the Slam Dunk Contest. After asking a few questions to the great Julius Erving and Lisa Leslie, he went over in between Chris Rock and Mark Wahlberg, but called them “big money n****s,” to the surprise and shock of those who witnessed it live.

To the credit of both actors, they did not react to it negatively and just allowed it to pass. They went on to give their thoughts on how a dunk worthy of a perfect score should be. It will be interesting to find out though if Scott will be reprimanded for what he said on national TV and how NBA TV will handle it.

Donovan Mitchell went on to win the event after besting Larry Nance Jr. in the championship round. He pulled off a 360 windmill dunk just like how Vince Carter did it 18 years ago. The judges scored it a 48, but he only needed a 47 to win, becoming just the second player in Utah Jazz winner to win the title, following Jeremy Evans who was also crowned the slam dunk king back in 2012.

The man they call “3D” is human. While he was able to stroke shots from long distance with great accuracy back then up to know where Scott has developed a charismatic on-screen persona, he is still going to commit mistakes no matter how little or unintended those may be.
