When the Golden State Warriors brought back big man Andrew Bogut last month, nobody seemed to make too huge of a deal out of it. Sure, it was cool that Bogut was back with the Warriors, but how much would he actually contribute?

Well, Bogut's role increased dramatically in Game 2 of Golden State's first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers last week, when DeMarcus Cousins went down with a quad injury that knocked him out for the playoffs.

Now, Bogut has taken center stage for the Dubs once again, and he has written on Yahoo Sports about his sudden resurgence:

“Now that I’m starting I think I’m playing pretty well individually,” wrote Bogut. “I’ve stepped right into the starting role and we’ve won both games, so that’s the most important thing.”

Bogut has indeed played incredibly well since stepping into the starting role, racking up eight points, 14 rebounds and five assists over 25 minutes in the Warriors' Game 3 win, and then totaling eight points, 10 boards and four assists across 21 minutes during Golden State's Game 4 victory on Sunday afternoon:

“I wouldn’t say it’s been my goal to step up with DeMarcus Cousins out, it’s just the reality of the situation,” he added. “We’re obviously short-handed and missing our starting big man so I just have to go in and make an impact.”

The 34-year-old also said he does things that go beyond the box score:

“Sometimes it won’t show up on the stat sheet and sometimes it will,” he said. “I’m just focusing on getting teammates open with screens and getting a few offensive possessions with rebounds and finishing the opportunities that I get.”

Andrew Bogut and the Warriors can close out the Clippers on Tuesday night.
