Golden State Warriors co-chairman and CEO Joe Lacob announced Sunday that the franchise intends to retire three-time champion Andre Iguodala's No. 9 jersey.

Lacob thanked Iguodala in a statement following the Warriors' completion of a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies:

“As we look back six years [after signing Iguodala], we actually underestimated what [Iguodala's] value would be to our team, both on the court and in the locker room. In what has been well-documented, Andre sacrified for the betterment of our team and, in one of the best stories of this journey … He has been absolutely vital to our success during five consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals and three championships. We thank Andre for all of his contributions and look forward to seeing his number in the rafters at Chase Center.”

The Warriors traded Iguodala, a future first-round pick and cash considerations to the Grizzlies for Julian Washburn, signed to a two-way contract.

Iguodala was an integral piece in Golden State's dynasty era — contributing to the team's first Finals appearance and title in 40 years in 2015. For his part, he was honored with the Finals MVP trophy that year. He would go on to assist the team in its back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018.

As Lacob alludes to, the Warriors will retire Iggy's number as they move across the bay to San Francisco's newly established Chase Center.

Andre Iguodala averaged 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in 413 appearances for the Warriors, shooting 48.5% from the floor, 34.2% from 3, and 63.4% from the free throw line.
