The Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings are reportedly going to play the NBA's first game in Seattle at KeyArena since 2008 when the two teams will meet for a preseason contest on Oct. 6, 2018.

According to an article written on Wednesday by Ailene Voisin of the Sacramento Bee, the two Northern California teams will square off next preseason. This would be the first NBA game played in the Seattle since the SuperSonics left to become the Oklahoma City Thunder almost 10 years ago following the 2007-08 season.

“For Kings fans, any mention of Seattle as it relates to the NBA brings up memories of Steve Ballmer and Chris Hansen’s attempts to purchase the Kings from the Maloofs in 2013 and move the franchise to Seattle,” Voisin said.

The proposed relocation was eventually turned down by the NBA’s owners, which kept the Kings in Sacramento under new ownership.

Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant, who spent his rookie season with the Sonics after the franchise selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, would then go on to spend the next eight seasons with the Thunder.

Of course, Durant then decided to take his talents to Golden State in July of 2016 so he could join stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green to make a super team.

It isn't the return of the Sonics to Seattle, at least not just yet, but this is at least something positive and the city will get to enjoy live NBA action again for one day.
