J.R. Smith took to Twitter to give his opinion on who would win a hypothetical game between prime Tracy McGrady and prime Warriors star Kevin Durant. SLAM Magazine posed the question and the decision for Smith was easy. Smith thinks KD would win that battle and he doesn't think it would even be close.

First off, McGrady was a bonafide superstar in his day and he's enshrined in the Hall of Fame forever. That being said, prime Durant would take down prime McGrady. I tend to think it would be close, but ultimately Durant would emerge victoriously.

Durant's unique combination of length and shooting make him virtually impossible to guard in an isolation situation. McGrady could try and invade his airspace and make any jumper difficult to get off. But if he does that, Durant is capable of putting the ball on the deck and driving right past McGrady.

Of course, McGrady would be no cupcake for Durant, but Durant's length and shot-blocking ability would be enough to keep McGrady at bay. I disagree with Smith's idea that this wouldn't even be close, but Durant definitely has the edge.

This matchup would be a battle, but the Warriors forward is the superior player. McGrady is a Hall of Famer, of course, but Durant could finish his career among the greatest players to ever play the game. McGrady falls somewhere in the top 100 players of all-time, but Durant is already making a case for top 1o billing when his career is over.

A one-on-one game between McGrady and Durant would be competitive, but I'm taking Durant.
