So it seems like Linsanity will not make a triumphant return to the Golden State Warriors after all. Multiple sources report that Golden State was not able to get a letter of clearance in time from FIBA after Jeremy Lin spent one year playing basketball in China. Thus, the Warriors could not execute their planned sign-and-waive deal for Lin to include him in Golden State's G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz.

As mentioned above, the Dubs instead signed-and-waived Elijah Pemberton, who will now be part of their G-League roster.

Jeremy Lin is diligently working on an NBA return and it seemed like the path was through the team he first played for back in 2010. Unfortunately, the American-Taiwanese guard could not obtain the necessary documents in time to get his comeback trail started.

It's still uncertain whether there are other teams also interested in Lin's services. With the regular season rosters rounding into form, it seems like the 6-foot-3 guard will need to look for another opportunity or wait out for another chance in the middle of the season.

Lin has expressed his desire to return to the NBA and believes he is still capable of playing at the highest level. After winning a title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, no teams expressed interest in signing Lin when he became a free agent in 2019. The 31-year old emotionally expressed his frustration over his lack of suitors last season but remained optimistic for his journey ahead.

Lin became an overnight sensation with the New York Knicks back in 2012, which eventually became known as “Linsanity.” Hopefully, Jeremy Lin can still find a place in the NBA when the dust settles.
