One of the biggest storylines of the 2018-19 NBA season has been the future of the Golden State Warriors. With superstars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson set to become free agents, pundits and journalists in NBA circles have wondered if the Warriors will keep their very expensive nucleus together.

While both players deserve max-level deals, Warriors owner Joe Lacob recently told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami that his team has “‘…the capital to pay our players what they deserve. And we will.'”

Lacob's insistence to retain all of Golden State's star players is welcome news especially to Thompson, who has been fairly declarative recently about his desire to remain with the organization.

He spoke to Mark Medina of The Mercury News about Lacob's comments:

While Durant is a slightly higher priority, it appears the Warriors will make sure Thompson gets his money in free agency. The Splash Brother is extremely important because of his shooting and stellar defense, making him one of the best two-way players in the NBA.

Thompson is making the lowest percentage of 3-pointers in his career, but he has been coming on strong of late after a prolonged slump to start the season. He shot 47.5 percent from distance in January and is up at 54.8 percent in February, giving him a 39.6 percent mark for the season.

Even during his slump, though, he still set the record for 3-pointers made in a single game in a late October contest against the Chicago Bulls. Thompson poured in 14 triples in the record-setting game.

As of right now, all signs point to Klay Thompson remaining in Golden State.
