Six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen believes that the Golden State is ‘probably bored' that resulted to the Kevin Durant-Draymond Green beef. The Warriors have been to the Finals for four consecutive years and they are still the clear favorites to win the title this season.
Pippen sat down with the panel of ESPN's The Jump and chimed in his thoughts on the Warriors' situation and how people should not put too much salt on the altercation between Durant and Green.
“They’re basically bored, they’re waiting on the NBA Finals. This is a situation that’s gonna get them pretty much focused and get them on track.”
Pippen was Michael Jordan's second fiddle during the Chicago Bulls' golden decade of six championships. While there aren't any widely-documented scuffles or altercations within the 90s Bulls, it's safe to assume that a lot of heated situations happened behind closed doors or during practices.
Another valuable thought to factor in is that this situation could also strengthen the bond between Durant and Green. Warriors head coach and former Bulls player Steve Kerr once said that an argument between him and Jordan resulted into the greatest player of all time punching him in the face.
Here's Steve Kerr's comment on that infamous altercation, per NBC Sports.
“It was one of the best things that ever happened for me, I needed to stand up and go back at him, I think I earned some respect. But we have a great relationship ever since… you gotta prove it and then once you prove it, you’re fine.”
So that brings us to an important question: Will the Durant-Green scuffle unite the Warriors even more or will it put an end to a game-changing dynasty?
